Guest guest
Kris and others discussing this topic, I had trouble responding because most the time I start off one way and that only last for a while, by morning I have rotated 360 degrees probably 360 times. I also understood why Kris sleeps so well in a recliner; I am almost ready to trade in my bed for a nice recliner. The one way that I do find most comfortable is what I call the " Dead Cow " position. Laugh if you want, personally, I agree, it is embarrassing, I don't know how it started. I think one night my back was hurting so bad that I was doing a yoga position by laying on my back with my legs straight up in the air. It was the first time my back had not hurt for some time and within a second I was a sleep. The only reason I share these weird things is so other people who may be doing something that they think may seem a little 'out there,' can now know that they are right. It is a little 'out there.' But that doesn't matter. I do whatever I have to do to obtain any semblance of relief from the constant pain. Theoretically, anatomically speaking, as a nurse I have always been instructed to encourage people to sleep on their right side. This should facilitate drainage of the stomach, duodenum, and pancreas. Of course, anatomically speaking, well, that leaves most of us out. :-) Karyn E. , RN Executive Director, PAI http://www.pancassociation.org Pancreatitis Association International
