Heidi -- You wrote:

" There are two types of chronic pancreatitis. One is called

chronic obstructive pancreatitis and the other is chronic calcific

pancreatitis. I have the latter. Obstructive pancreatitis would be

when the patient has obstructions in the ducts that cause the

pancreas inflamation. When you have calcific pancreatitis there

are areas of calcification throughout the gland. "

What tests are performed to detect which kind of CP a person has. I

have no idea which type I have. I probably have " idiopathic " as you

stated. My father died at age 55 when I was 2, so I didn't really

know him. He burned to death smoking in bed in an alcoholic

stupor! So, I never had a father growing up.
