Guest guest
Reader's Digest used to have a regular feature, " The Most Unforgettable Character I've met. " Elaine Gottschall certainly belongs in that category! For those of you who never heard her speak or never had the opportunity to meet her, let me say that above and beyond her science she was a remarkable personality and remained " a going concern " into her eighth decade. She could out dance people one quarter her age, and give a good bottle of red wine the appreciation it deserved. She was an avid movie buff and loved to go shopping. She could linger over a cup of coffee for four hours making points about SCD Thanks to technology, I spent the afternoon with Elaine by accessing the webcasts of several DAN conference. When Elaine was invited to her first in Washington she was a little nervous and had trouble with her microphone. But when she delivered her talk to the Boston DAN. she was a seasoned vet and I'll venture she was one of the most enjoyed speakers present. This is the first time I have been able to access the webcasts and get a clear uninterrupted low band streaming video via Quicktime n the Mac. I was able to see and hear others in the autism community, people I knew by name and reputation but can now put " a face " and a voice to. For those who have never been able to attend DAN conferences, short of clean sheets daily,, you and breakfast in the coffee shop can have most of the advantages right on your monitors. In order to do this go to: https://www.autismeval.com/danwebcast/index.html You just have to register your email address at the left and will receive password by email. Click on the " Boston " photo to see the list of speakers. SCD was represented a some of the other conferences too. It will take a long time to hear all the talks at all the conferences but what an invaluable experience. And it's FREE! Carol F.
