Guest guest
We did leave our son's on when he was going through that because he tolerated it so well still. I would just feel it out and see how he does... and take it off if he wakes up in the middle of the night and is still hot. Good luck! Teething is not a fun thing... I hope you all are able to get some sleep tonight!! :-) On Jul 29, 2010 9:31 PM, " Ami Tuyay " <amituyay@...> wrote: My 7-mo old in a Starband is teething and now has a runny nose and fever of 100.2. Guest guest
I was pretty slow to recognize fever symptoms, so although I always intended to take the helmet off immediately, I do remember feeling bad for catching it late a couple times. A definite hazard of the treatment. But, once medicine kicked in, I played it by ear. It did seem more disruptive than helpful to remove Clara's STARband at night, once she was accustomed. Besides, inflamed tissues may benefit, along with the growing bone and brain, from having the skull supported in a more voluminous, normal shape. So, all depends on how well you think you're controlling the fever, IMO. -- Thad Launderville town, VT Clara age 2, STARband '10 On Jul 29, 2010, at 11:29 PM, Ami Tuyay wrote: > My 7-mo old in a Starband is teething and now has a runny nose and > fever of 100.2. Guest guest
Ami,My daughter didn't run fevers with teething, but she did get sick a couple of times and ran fevers while in the helmet. We were advised to remove the helmet if baby is running a fever. As long as the fever is controlled, you should be okay to leave the helmet on. An uncontrolled fever lasting more than a couple of days can be a problem because only three days out of the helmet may result in it no longer fitting baby. You should contact your orthotist.-Amy From: Ami Tuyay <amituyay@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, July 29, 2010 11:29:57 PMSubject: Helmet off while teething-induced fever?
