Guest guest
Gale, I don't know that he has polyps, but I guess the CAT scan will tell us what is going on. I think the idea is that he gets so many infections that his adenoids become inflamed and make it difficult for him to sleep, breathe, etc. So the surgery would remove the adenoids. I was also under the impression that it clears out the sinuses, but I am actually not clear on this part. I will definately ask more questions as we go along. One of the reasons for my post is that I am not completely understanding it all.... mom of Henry 2 wcf

I would think the ENT could tell by inspecting his nose. My son bled a lot from adenoid/polyp surgery and it made him very naseous. Make sure you get a prescription if you can for vomiting before you leave the hospital. The first hospital we were at had this " sling " they put under the nose that the gauze pads went into. The sling elastic went behind the head to hold it in place. It was very helpful for the first day when you were replacing the gauze pads so often. Removal of the adenoids may also help in nasal drainage in the future as well making it easier to blow the mucus. jan
