Guest guest
Ha! But hey, the wife and I have been doing the South Beach diet while we do what we can to keep fattening him up. Our kid is a picky eater (just the luck for a kid that needs to eat all that is in front of him). Wife and I are pretty well obsessed w/ making everything high fat/calories for him. He was a premie and obviously w/ CF, we've gone from way off (low) the charts to 10% the past few months. We've been pretty " slow " in getting him to feed himself just because the importance in getting as much in him as quick as possible each time (the pickiness)...starting to try and break that now as his weight had been doing pretty well (i.e. if he screws around too much instead of eating we may not have such a good meal at times). Guest guest
All I can tell you is what my wife and have been doing (mainly my wife...but I get to give him dinner when I get home ;-). Start w/ the spaghetti idea: 1) Highest calorie jar you can find at the store. 2) 1 lb. of the fattiest (sp?) meat your store/butcher has got (now that we moved back south...fewer folks look at us funny when we buy the lean stuff for us and the fatty stuff for him). 3) Brown the meat, poor the meat (w/ fat) and jar of sauce in to the blender and blend that baby. 4) Put it in to ice cube trays, freeze, and then use a cube or two for a meal. I just stick a couple in the microwave for 40 seconds, stir it up, and he usually loves it. Very smooth (obviously don't add noodles if that would turn him off). Other ideas (though some have " lumps " , and we're familiar w/ that problem): Cheese...appropriately sized pieces (or grated) Cottage cheese Mashed potatos (lots of butter and sour cream blended in) One thing it took him a while to like, but now loves are scrambled eggs....cook the eggs in peanut oil and a hunk of butter plus a splash of whipping cream (good lord how could it not be good)...put some cheese on it and after it melts break in to finger type food. > My son is 2 1/2 w/cf, my 12 1/2 daughter w/o cf and he won't eat anything but yogurt and step 3 foods. If it has a chuck of anything he won't eat it. How can I make it high in calories and fat. He will eat spaghetti sometimes but it is all low fat and low calories.
