I just might ask for it myself, to replace the Nexium. Dear Suzy, I've been taking Protonix for about six months now, not for acid reflux or ulcers, but as a substitute for Prevacid or other antiacids needed to be taken with my Viokase enzyme supplements. When I switched from enteric coated enzyme supplements (Ultrase) to Viokase, my GI eventually put me on Protonix. We had such a hard time with the insurance company getting approvals for two of the other antiacids that my doctor prescribed that he finally submitted and fought for the Protonix, instead. They turned the request down twice, but finally relented. I'm pleased with the results. I take one 40 mg. tab each morning before I eat, and I've not had any acid problems since I started on them last spring. Hope this helps. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
