Les, I am glad you are taking care of yourself. I wasn't that lucky.

Going on 3 years ago I was in the hospital for pancreatitis. I was

drinking about a quart of vodka a day at least. I ended up in the

hospital a 2nd time and they told me to quit drinking or I am going to

die soon. I am 38yrs old now and back then I didn't believe them at all.

I continued to drink and ended up in the hospital for a 3rd time. This

time I was in the hospital for 24 days. I only remember the last week or

so. I went into DT's bad I guess. They couldn't get me stabilized and I

barely made it out of it. I was on 24hr watch the whole time I was

there. Well when I realized what was really going on I checked myself

into an inpatient treatment center. I had to go there with a feeding

tube in my nose. I hated it. Everyone would look at me and there was not

much left of me. I had to be hooked up to a machine for 12hrs a day just

to get nourishment. I did this for about 3 weeks. I learned a lot at

treatment about myself. I haven't drank since and will not. I have had

several problems since then. I have been in the hospital at least twice

a month after all this. I had pseudo cysts, stents, several ERCP's,

MRCP's, celiac blocks and finally at total pancreatectomy with islet

cell transplant on Sept. 24th in Minneapolis. I had been in so much

pain that whole time I couldn't take it, all because of my drinking. I

just about lost my wife, my boy, and all my friends. Right now I am

doing great. No more pain (well for the most part) and back at work. If

I can do it anyone can. Please take care of yourself!!! I'll be thinking

of you!
