Guest guest
That's funny Carol! I guess I missed that page... though had most of the book memorized. It's been collecting dust on my bookshelf now but I am loath to part with it. We can read our bodies and their responses so well now... all due to the head start that SCD gave us - when the docs didn't seem to know what to do with my boy. I can't even begin to express how much quality it put back into our lives. (All of us because we all did the diet together... and found that we all, apparently, needed it.) It was several years ago though now and I do know that I had to tailor it to us because it wasn't strict enough... but what a great head start to get us where we needed to be. Over time I became quite aware that all grain products were 'bad' for my son. We also had to cut out all cooked oil and anything canola was out for sure... He still reacts to that (actually we all react to cooked oils, even now - not in a big way - but enough to just keep it for special occassions). Raw Grapeseed oil was actually beneficial though and seemed to be required by his body (cleared up some skin issues). Now, several years later he doesn't seem to 'need' it anymore but we do still use it regularly and keep it on the table with the salt and pepper. We couldn't do nightshades or the lily family for a long time either... and nuts had to be limited. That's wild that there was actually a 'diet' with corn oil. Very interesting!!!
