Guest guest
, Type II diabetes is normally due to genetic predisposition. Is there anyone in your family, i.e., mother, father, an aunt or an uncle, that have type II diabetes? I would look in that direction, first, and at your pancreatic insufficiency as a secondary cause. If you've just been diagnosed, I'm sure you've learned that type II diabetes is caused by the inadequate utilization of insulin stores in the body. This differs from type I, which is where damage to the beta cells has caused the body to cease production of insulin. The advantages to type II diabetes is that it can often be effectively contolled by exercise, diet and oral medication. If your doctor hasn't arranged for you to meet with a Certified Diabetic Nurse Educator, you could call your local hospital and see what kind of courses they have available for your instruction. It seems like a lot to learn at first, but with the right instruction, you'll get a good handle on it quickly and shouldn't have any difficulties. I hope this helps.
