Dear list,

Could a swollen left tonsil(enormous) since 3.5 years old with my

son just be yeast over-growth? He has only had a throat infection

twice in his 10 years with a very swollen left tonsil for 6.5

years(all year around even when not sick). It is obvious that yeast has

been in his gut...very leaky...intolerant to much.

His tonsil reduced a lot in size after 2.5 months on the diet, it

was still large, but he no longer snored, no longer complained about

it or no longer had troubles eating .But it still remained large.

___Info. to consider_________________________

Well, we stopped the GI Pro-health L. Acidoliphus, and

Pro-gurt....in December...because of a " little undigestible fiber " in

it..Ha! .called CELLULOSE...all behav. etc. cleared up.

I'm almost sure some of my kids' bad regressions and silliness had to

do with this. Cellulose is in both the Progurt and the

L.Acidoliphus...Cellulose is in the capsule encasing and possibly in

with the bacteria, as they are bigger than Kirkmans..I'm still waiting

to here back from GI Pro-health's Lab.

I tested my theory out this month...I tried a little bit of yogurt

with my son...I waited for the best week ever with him(at

school/home)... within 2 hours after the yogurt he became so

silly...and it didn't wear off for more than 2 days.

A week later, I also tried a bit of the L.acidoliphus(1tsp.probiotic

mixture) with both the kids and about 2 hours later...what a big change!

Even my daughter was very silly. She has never had behaviour issues

pre-scd(And she couldn't read that night either...concentration issues

etc)It took a while for this to wear off with both the kids.

---------

My son's tonsil is really bad today(just like when we started the

SCD)...I'm sure stopping the Probiotic for a while didn't help, he

also has some itchy skin lately.

I just started Kirkman's L. Acidoliphus, they seem ok with it( just a

bit in the last 3 days)...It doesn't have that " indigestible fiber " in it.

I'm wondering what to do now? Should I make soup again...?

How fast should I up the probiotics? Maybe we need to consider also,

not eating foods that promote yeast overgrowth?(or not eating them

often?) If it is yeast causing that tonsil(just the left one)..is

there something more I can do to help with it?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks for any advice,

Cathy

Cathy,

I have no idea if a swollen tonsil could be caused by yeast. I think I'd have to

advise you to see a naturopath or something. The tonsils are part of the immune

system, so are there for a reason..... and are bigger in some people than in

others. I happen to have large tonsils, too. I just don't think any of us

really have the expertise to help on this, as it's really not something related

to SCD.

If you think it may be yeast related, I suppose you may want to use some natural

anti-fungals and/or limit fruit a honey and see if that helps at all. But, it

could also be that his immune system is responding to the changes SCD is

bringing to his body..... sometimes it over-reacts for some reason. I honestly

don't know what to tell you. I really think a naturopathic doctor would be a

good idea.

I'm glad to read that the Kirkman's acidophilus seems to be better tolerated.

Thanks Patti,

We went to a Naturopath/Homeopath for 3 years...

He told us his magic remedies could cure that tonsil and all the food

intolerances. He kept telling us, Hmmm...it usually doesn't take this

long to fix things.

The only thing he got right was to call them " sickly " .

Maybe I'll have luck with another Naturopath.

Good Night,

Cathy
