Guest guest
Hi, My son is 9 yrs. old and we have been on the GFCFSF diet for years. At one point we did the SCD for 8 months and saw great results. My son now has acid reflux severly. I'm talking 30-45 mins of severe, severe pain. He is on some meds presently to help deal with the pain, but I'm wondering if anyone has pretty much cured acid-reflux by sticking with the SCD for a while. And if so, how long did it take for symptoms to subside? I know the food he eats can only contribute to reflux because he eats only acidic foods. I know he has a good deal of yeast just from the symptoms he has, and we are awaiting test results to confirm. I'm wondering if I should get him started with this diet, or wait until we knock some of the yeast down first. We are having him scoped Feb. 8th, but I don't want him on a bunch of meds if I can help heal this problem using diet and other natural alternative methods. Any advice would be much appreciated. Guest guest
My 6 year old celiac daughter had acid reflux since a baby unitil SCD. It didn't take long...for this to clear up...All she was eating was fruits, vegetables, gluten-free grains(no gluten, no dairy, no eggs..no sugar, nothing in a package...allergic to everything...)before SCD. It was just the grains, starches causing her reflux, it didn't realize this until Scd. cathy, Mom to celiacs 6,9 Scd since august 2006 > > > Hi, > My son is 9 yrs. old and we have been on the GFCFSF diet for years. Guest guest
>----------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks so much to everyone who responded regarding acid-reflux and the SCD. It sounds encouraging! Today is our first full day, and all I could get him to eat is a few squash pancakes, and cinnamon cookies. He would not eat the chicken soup broth but would eat a few green beans. I'm concerned that it's to soon to introduce almond flour, but felt I had no choice. Right now, due to severe reflux, he is on Mylanta, alka-seltzer and rolaids. So the food probably doesn't taste the best to the poor kid! His stools are very loose right now, due to the meds, and normally he is a pretty constipated kid. Like I said before, he is due to be scoped Feb. 8th which seems like an eternity from now. I feel horrible giving him so many drugs, but the alternative of seeing him screaming in severe pain is worse. He seems to feel so bad right now, and says " Garet sad " alot, which breaks my heart. If I can aleviate the reflux through this diet, I will be so happy.
