Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. Many of us have had an experience similar to yours and can relate to all the emotions that you're experiencing. The important thing is - and you mentioned it - you are on the right road now. Best not to spend too much energy looking back; rather, look ahead and be thankful that you are getting him the treatment he needs. You're doing a good thing and you're not too late. I'm a first-time mom, too, and through this I also learned to trust my instincts and speak up as my son's advocate. There are many parents here who started where you are and even later - hopefully, you'll hear lots of encouragement from them. We started a bit earlier, but we still saw a significant amount of correction just before graduation, which was right before my son's first birthday. You're little guy is still growing...he'll do great! You didn't mention his measurements, but that (along with age) will play a role in the length of time he'll be in the band. It really does go by quickly. Have fun decorating it...put his name on it...make it fun and you'll probably meet people everywhere you go. I was really anxious about getting a band and then once he was in it, I felt very relieved...I didn't have to worry anymore about his head getting worse. That was a great feeling. Anyway, best of luck to you as you get started with treatment. This group really is a great support network!
