Hi Martha,

<< We are about a month and a half into the diet for my 4 yr old ASD

son. We have been in stage 2 for about 2 weeks and are slowly trying

out new stage 3 foods.

off since we started the diet-- so it is hard for me to tell. We have

also, in the last 3 days, switched his antifungal from Nystatin to

oil of oregano and candizyme.

It " sounds " more like die off than intolerance. The Oil of Oregano

(OoO) and candizyme are pretty strong yeast fighters on their own but

when you combine them it creates a synergistic effect(greater than

doubling them or more).

A couple of options:

1. pull back to some easier to digest foods to see if that helps

2. epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal to absorb the toxins

being released from the antifungals.

3. reduce the amount of the antifungals so that the die isn't as

great. Then gradually increase the amounts.

Are you taking any legal probiotics or yogurt/fermented food? These

are also good yeast fighters.

Martha,

I think it's possible that you're getting a little bit of rebound effect from

stopping the Nystatin. This is NOT a reason to go back on Nystatin, mind you!

Just take note that many other parents have noticed this.... a big flare up of

resistant yeast right after going off Nystatin. I am just taking a dimmer and

dimmer view of that Rx the more I hear about it!

The other possibilities are, as Sheila stated, possible new die-off related to

the new anti-fungals..... or reactions to new foods you've introduced. Only way

to tell is to pull the new foods out, cut back on or pull out the new

anti-fungals and re-introduce ONE thing at a time. I know it's a natural parents

response to want to do ALL the " good stuff " , all at once.. but it can really

cloud the picture.

I think it's very unlikely to be " emerging allergies " to nuts and eggs.... not

impossible, but that would be last on my list of possibilities.

Remember..... ONE new thing, ONE change, at a time. Otherwise, you'll just

never know... which (I know from experience) leads to sleepless nights for

parents who are straining their brains for the answers. :)

question in Stage 2

Hi All,

We are about a month and a half into the diet for my 4 yr old ASD son.

We have been in stage 2 for about 2 weeks and are slowly trying out

new stage 3 foods.

My question is this...Ben has had terrible gas the last couple of

days, slightly bloated stomache, and grainy yellow colored stools, and

a whole lot of attitude (tantrums, agressive behavior). I am

wondering if this is continuing die-off or reaction to new foods (peel

and cooked bell peppers and tomatoes), or just emerging allergies to

nuts and/or eggs. He had had a bloated stomach on and off since we

started the diet-- so it is hard for me to tell. We have also, in the

last 3 days, switched his antifungal from Nystatin to oil of oregano

and candizyme.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Martha
