Guest guest
I've been reading about the hormone replacement therapy and pancreatitis. I haven't been diagnosed with CP but when I was in the hospital back in Feb I was on birth control pills (actually the patch Ortho Evra). While I was in the hospital my PCP told me to take off the BC patch because he read how it can cause pancreatitis. They didn't conclude that it was the case but my PCP wanted to decrease every chance or possibility. After leaving the hospital I got on a low hormone BC (because I was terrified of getting pregnant again...so soon after our baby's death). My GI checked my lipase and amylase while on the low BC and they were normal. The thing I hate about the lipase and amylase is that it doesn't show up abnormal during my flare ups. Is there any way to detect that something is wrong during the flare ups?? My GI says that when I get the flare ups, it could be that stones are passing the ducts and making the head of the pancreas a little inflammed. But he says that when that happens it should show up on the blood work...and it doesn't (at least for me). Anyway, Thanks for listening. I feel so overwhelmed with all that's happening to me right now. Pancreatitis, Gastricparesis, knee surgery coming up, trying to conceive, etc, etc, etc! Sincerely, Liana Tampa, FL
