Guest guest
Les, I doubt that it's that your GI isn't cooperative with pain meds or procedures, he probably would be if you had convinced him that you were serious about doing what you had to do to take care of yourself. By continuing to drink alcohol with this disease, you're telling your doctor and everyone else that you don't care about getting better or being free of pain. I know this is a harsh message, but it's said out of concern, other than vindictiveness, because you obviously need someone to say it to you, again......you can't drink with CP! That, more than anything else, is going to be what will damage you and that damage could very well be fatal. You say that alcoholism is attitude. While I may not agree with that analysis, I don't disagree that you're entitled to your own opinion in that regard, and I'm here to tell you that even attitudes can be changed, just as well as alcoholism can be treated. Please find professional help for your biggest problem, which ISN'T chronic pancreatitis, but alcoholism. If you can lick that, you'll find that your CP will be much easier to live with. Join AA, or a private counseling group, or the hundreds of counseling sessions offered at churches or civic groups all over the country. Millions of people have had this same problem and they've been able to lick it, no one is so unique that they can't. It just takes " attitude " , as you say, and yours could use some help. If I remember right, you're quite young. Gee, Les, you've got a long, long life ahead of you, if you want it, and getting a handle on this now would make you so much happier. I do think if you were to show your doctor that you were serious about conquering the one problem that's making your CP worse, you might see a big adjustment in his attitude toward you. We've got a few members here on the board that faced up to their problems with alcohol, and are happy they did, that I'm sure would be happy to talk to you about it. No one says it's an easy thing to do, but it can be done, and it would prolong your life immensely. Please let us know if you want some help with this. I'll do whatever I can to find it for you.
