Guest guest
I thank my lucky stars everyday that I found this board. Your right it really helps to share our triumps and our tragedies. We help one and other as well as just lend a sympathetic ear. I can honestly say that I have made friends for life on this board. Physicians have become so specialized these days that the live in a bubble. Maybe health care has gotten so complex that it is physically and mentally impossible for a physician to even attempt to cover all the bases. They tend to have tunnel vision to their own specialty without bothering to glance about. However, physicians irregardless of speciality; need to continue to be aware that medicine and health care is a dynamic field that is ever changing. Thank God for that, and the research that is constantly being done in all aspects of human nature. What do they call the guy who graduated last in medical school? DOCTOR! There are going to be good ones and there are going to be the DINKS. The young intern that picked up the relationship with valium and torodol with has tremendous potential to be a non-DINK. As Heidi said, we are our best advocate. We as the patient must take a proactive approach to our health care needs. They can give us all the incredulous (love that) stares they want, but they cant stop us from being persistent. I have had times when I have just wanted to give up. To crawl under the covers in a cloud of demerol believing nothing can be done. Thank God I got out of that emotional phase. The people here helped me get over that by just the meer understanding and knowing I'm not alone in this fight. That we all have the worse pms on earth, underwires are even more torturous then before, anything even remotely binding around the waste, estrogen, and maybe even low pressure systems can add to our discomfort. There are so many questions that are not answered by our physicians. Our specialized physicians who are just people too cant possibly know everything. They have pms, fights with their wife, teenagers!, and countless other stressors; just like us. We have to be our own patient advocate. Thank goodness as Heidi said, That Karyn had that great insight to start this board so that we can learn from each other, from each others physicians and share that with our physicians. Yes I have told my doc many things I have learned on this board, and even with the incredulous (love that) stares, he finds it interesting. I'm sorry that your having such a rough time, I couldn't imagine how painful it must be to have endometriosis on your pancreas. Have you had any scans to indicate that? I appreciate you sharing your story. I have gotton a ton of help, support and have learned a lot on this board and I do hope that I have given some of that back. Thats why we are here, right. Warmly, Chrissy
