Guest guest
Hi everyone, I noticed a post a couple of pages back on back pain and massage. I have never had a professional massage but I have always found, since being a very small girl, that massage just from someone else (used to be one of my parents, now it's my husband) definitely helps with pancreatic pain. Gentle massage of the back, even of the abdomen itself if very gentle, can really help when the pain is bad. I don't know if there might be some dangers inherent in this? I wouldn't want to advise anything which could hurt anyone but for me it has always worked well. I emphasise again that I am talking about very gentle massage of the affected areas and not for long periods of time. I'm quite sure that professional massage must also have deeply relaxing effects which are also helpful. Hot water bottles also help a lot. I have the mottled tum of a CP sufferer! Apparently it's a recognised sign of CP to experienced docs. One of the pancreatitis websites actually has a picture of this phenomenon and a Greek-based name for the mottling which Im afraid I've forgotten for the moment. (Yet another reason, along with cellulite and other nasties, why I don't waer bikinis and why I wish they'd bring back those old swimming costumes which cover more than they reveal!!!!) I am arming myself with all weapons, and preparing to ask for strong pain-killers as I am coming up to an ERCP on 24th Nov. and might be facing an acute attack or at least a severe attack of pancreatic pain. With good wishes to all, Fliss
