(snip) Can you actually function on the pain meds you take? April, HA! It depends upon your interpretation of function. I don't take the Oxycodone every day, just periodically for breakthrough pain, which may happen two or three times a week. Usually one dose of Oxycodone is all I need. I don't drive if I've had to take the Oxycodone. The meds do make me very sleepy, specifically the Neurontin. It effects me most in the late afternoon and about 9:00 pm at night. My PM doctor wanted to increase my dosage to another 300 mgs. at lunchtime, but I told him if I did that I'd spend all my days half awake, so I refused. If I know that I have to drive to an appointment during the day, I don't take my morning dose of Neurontin, and then have no problems with drowsiness. Otherwise, I'm able to function quite well. I've been on the duragesic patch nearly two years now and seem to have built up a resistance to the drowsiness that it caused initially. The website for the antioxidant program is posted below: http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band5/b5-4.html How did your doctor's appointment go? I hope you were able to ward off your attack, or if you did have one, the doctor was able to observe your pain and treat you accordingly. Having the doctor personally witness one of those bad episodes does help to reinforce your credibility......LOL! It's hard to deny the patient's pain when they can't even stand upright without a grimace and they're grabbing their belly with pain. Please update us. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
