Guest guest
In the SCD literature on the web, there is much reference to gut pathogens. Yeast and bacteria are mentioned, but I cannot find mention of viruses or parasites. Is SCD also addressing those pathogens? - --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru. I suggest you redad the book to get the most information and value from SCD. The important idea behind SCD is that " We must never forget that what the patient takes beyond his ability to digest does harm. " Undigested foods become great nourishment for the gut microorganisms that have an excellent ability to digest carbohydrates. These parasites then emit toxins that destroy our children's gut and brains. Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac

Guest guest
Hi , As far as I know, SCD itself does not get rid of viruses and parasites, however it makes common sense to me that if we strengthen the general health, the body is less likely to harbor those things. I know a number of parent are using other treatments for viruses and parasites. It's just important to be sure that any supplement or prescription med is SCD legal, if you're following this diet. I know one of the common anti-viral drugs, Valtrex, has illegal additives/fillers. I'm not an expert on natural anti-virals, but I know coconut oil (virgin oil only) has anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Olive leaf extract has all three of those properties as well. Both can be safely added to SCD, if you read labels to be sure there are no illegal additives. Guest guest
No, parasites are not addressed in the book. By gut pathogens, we mean bacterial overgrowth. Guest guest
Yes, you would start the same way. The parasites would be addressed as a separate issue, hopefully with a treatment or medication that had few, if any, illegals added. One of the favorite yeast remedies around here.... fresh carrot juice with fresh garlic pressed in.... no doubt has some powerful anti-parasitic properties, too. So, using that certainly would not hurt. I think the details on how to make that were posted in a reply to someone else earlier today or yesterday (I can't remember which). Patti Re: Re: gut pathogens So if you already know there is a parasite issue, do you still start the SCD in the same way someone who does not have one? - Recent Activity a.. 21New Members Visit Your Group
