Today is the 9th day that Will has had his Starband. He started out

doing well, tolerating the progressive schedule. He's only kept it

on one whole night, though. That was Thursday into Friday. When I

looked at him in the morning I realized he had a really red area

under the left sideburn area. I took him in for an adjustment and

then the helmet was very loose. Our ortho thought it was caused by

front to back movement and not being tight, which I agree it was not

too tight.(My husband had to take him there as I had to volunteer at

our older one's school) I wish I was there because I'm not exactly

sure what she did to the helmet. So since then I haven't had him

sleep in it at night because it seems so loose. Also, he's

definitely not tolerating it during sleep and wakes repeatedly. I'm

so upset by all of this because he really was an easy-going baby and

now he's not his norm. Another thing, he has a cough; maybe even

croup starting so that doesn't help anything. I sent an email to my

ortho and will call in the morning. Any advice? Does it get loose,

then tighter as he makes some progress? I already see some changes,

like buldging in the flat spot as if it's starting to grow outward

there. I feel like I am moving backward and not forward with this

whole thing.

Sorry so long!

We did find my daughter's band a bit loose after an adjustment, then

it would get tighter as she grew. However if he's not sleeping in it

the fit still may not be right. It is hard to say becuase the

adjustment to sleeping can take a week or two. Check with the ortho

about the fit, and if he's not getting red spots (that don't fade) you

still might have to put up with him waking more until he's used to

sleeping in the band.
