Well it's over! I had surgery yesterday! It all

started at 7AM. I arrived at Durham Regional at 7AM,

my original surgery time was 10:30AM, but the first

lady had an unacceptable EKG reading and then backed

out, the second lady was still waiting on insurance

approval and so they asked me if I was ready to go...

that's all I needed to hear!

I went into surgery at about 8:00AM and 29 minutes

later I was done!

I found myself in the recovery room yelling for

something for pain. I couldn't get comfortable. I

don't sleep on my back and I was trying to sleep on my

stomach. I know I gave the recovery room nurses a run

for thier money and their patience with me.

They got me back up to my room - 5119 I think.

I slept for 30 minutes, then pushed the pain pump,

then got up to go to the bathroom. This was my cycle

until about 4PM. I had a small nausea eposide, but

when I changed positions it went away.

By 6PM, I was up. I walked around to visit all of my

5 LitterMates. They were doing fine, one lady was

sleep.

Then I walked to the nurses station and said, call Dr.

Rutledge, I'm going home. The nurse did just as I

asked and by 8PM I was outta there.

I slept WONDERFUL last night. I woke up a couple of

times to go to the bathroom and officially got up

about 10AM.

Overall the experience was a good one. Dr. R was

FANTASTIC! He's a special person. He put my mom at

ease!!!

Anyway, the worst part was the gas pain and not being

able to find a comfortable position. Once I arrived

back here at the hotel some 14 hours since surgery, I

did well. All of my gas pain was abdominal, no

shoulder pain for me, but other littermates had left

side shoulder pain.

I am still soooo happy. I'm just looking forward to a

normal size body.

Hallelujah!
