Sonja,

between having IBS, cp, liver disease, and taking pain meds every day,

constipation is a major problem. I take zelnorm 6 mg three times a day. The

zelnorm does help a lot but it's still not enough. I have tried taking miralax

but I really can't tell that it helps. My stepmother told me that her doctor

told her to take ground flax seed for constipation. The flax seed has a good

taste to it, it's kind of nutty. I've been mixing it with yogurt or cereal

twice a day and it seems to help more than anything I've ever tried. Flax seed

does have a lot of fat so I'm not sure if it would be okay for most people with

pancreatitis. I do not seem to have problem with fat at this time. I don't eat

anything fried mostly because I just don't like it. You might want to check

with your doctor prior to taking the flax seed. You can find all kinds of info

on it if you just do a search on the internet for 'flax seed'. If you do decide

to give it a try, it is actually in the pharmacy area of most stores. I first

wasn't able to find it at Walmart, so I got my first bag of it from a health

food store. It was $12 for 15 oz. When we looked in the pharmacy area at

Walmart, we found it for $7.93 for 15 oz.
