Guest guest
Fliss, I must have missed the initial posts on Sue's surgery. I do remember seeing you saying she had surgery, but I didn't know what kind of surgery she had. Do you mind me asking for more info? I had a roux-en-y gastric bypass for weight loss in Dec 2001. I had my first 'documented' attack of acute panc in Jan 00, nearly two years prior to the gastric bypass. I don't think the gastric bypass has anything to do with my attacks of pancreatitis since I'd already had several attacks before having the gastric bypass. However, I have had increasing problems with constipation and horrendous abdominal bloating and fluid retention. It's not unusual for me to gain or lose as much as 8 lbs in a 24 hour period. My stomach will just all of a sudden 'blow up' and it looks like I am 7 months pregnant. It is absolutely miserable. When this happens, I cannot stand for anything to touch my stomach, not even my panties. When I read your post about Sue's surgery, it made me wonder if perhaps adhesions or problems from the gastric bypass might be causing my latest symptoms. If you and Sue wouldn't mind sharing her story with me, I would really appreciate it. If she doesn't want you to share the story, I certainly understand. You can e-mail me privately, if you would like at karenw@.... thanks, W alabama
