Guest guest
Hi Tracie, This is easy for me to say, I know, and I do not say it lightly....but from all the stories I have heard from members on this board (as well as other boards) and based on my own experiences with seeking care from doctors not very knowledgeable about pancreas divisum and CP, I encourage you to seriously consider figuring out how to see someone like Dr Lehman or the guru himself. All the money that you may spend, and emotion grief that you endure may make any out of pocket costs or the wait until you can re-enroll into a plan that includes Dr L seem like time / money well spent. If you are remaining stable, you will be amazed at how long you can endure this disease. Although it seems overwhelming now, after some time, you will be amazed at what you consider " normal " now. The pain that I feel everyday....is pain that just four years ago would have driven me into the emergency room. Not that I advocate abusing yourself, or denying yourself appropriate medical care....it is just that the reality of this disease is endurance....not necessarily cure. As hard as it is to become reconciled to, the level of pain that we feel day to day, hour by hour, etc does not necessarily correspond to an immediate dangerous physical state of being. That is basically the only hints I can give....learn to endure, become educated about the disease, what can be done, what cannot be done, change your lifestyle to adapt (as it seems you are doing) and keep looking and hoping to find the right doctor. Serioously consider finding the way and means to see someone like Dr Lehman or himself....I think that is your best option right now (yea right, who am I to tell you what to do? but I write this with all sincerety......)
