Guest guest
Thanks Sue and also to Fliss across the pond, lol. I just returned from hospital, and she's doing fine on the one week anniversary of the surgery. They removed her Evac stomach pump altogether this morning and she is very ambulatory. Trouble is she wants to do to much and tires out quickly !! A wonderful, very knowledgeable RN who specializes in Diabetes, spent 1.5 hours with us this morning. She gave us a complete education on managing Diabetes going from diet, support groups, web sites, insulin and everything in between. She was terrific. Because she is still only getting nutrition from that nasal tube, there is a difference of opinion between physicians as to when she will be discharged to home. Her surgeon says she's good to go tomorrow but her Endo says she should stay until perhaps Saturday. The Endo thinks this is a good idea because she has to eat " real " food thru her mouth in order to show she can tolerate, digest and eliminate any " real " food. We'll see how this conflict is resolved tomorrow. Her GI says follow the Diabetic diet, no fried foods and consume no more than 15% fat in her diet. He also said to maintain that 30,000 units of Lipase with meals,,, more than that might cause constipation. Sue, thanks for everything and be assured that I am counting on you and others in the future for your advice which has been and will be going so valuable to us. Thanks again, be well, Doc.
