Guest guest
Hi All, I cannot believe that my first month on the other side is gone. It went very fast. I am very happy to report that I am doing well. I have never vomited, possibly had one dumping incident ( but it might have been a bug of some sort). I tolerate everything I have tried, except bread and pasta pretty well as long as I eat it slow enough and in small enough bites. I have tried chicken, beef in chili, fish and even a bite of pork, so I don't think meat will be a problem. I am still eating mostly supplement smoothies, soup, jello, frozen yogurt and juice. I loved gatorade at first, but I don't care for it anymore and I don't like the thicker juices like OJ much either. I love tomatoe soup with a little shredded cheese in it. Peanuts with BBQ flavoring on them were a real treat. Saltines never set well with me. I only tried them twice and got a tummy ache both times, so in the beginning I just added a lot of salt and pepper to all my soups and broths. I have done some walking several times a week. I am more active overall though, because I can last longer during the day. I think I have had some food disappointment this week. You know, dealing with the fact that food doesn't give me the buzz it did before. I have needed a lot more hugs which my hubby has gladly given. Now I need to work on new ways to nurture myself besides food. I am a type II Diabetic and have not been on meds since surgery and my fasting blood sugars have been steadily coming down. Now they are in the 130-150 range which is lower than when I was diagnosed 10 years ago. Meds have never controlled it for me. I am extremely glad and hopeful about this progress. I have severe foot neuropathy from the diabetes and the nightly pain kept me quite sleep deprived for about 2 years. I now have many more good nights than bad and use much less of my pain meds and they work quicker. We had no idea if the neuropathy would respond or not, but again I am so pleased and grateful and HOPEFUL!! IT feels good to not be SO tired all the time. Drum roll please.... As of this morning, I have lost a total of 38 lbs!! I am tied with Ken LOL. I have no idea why I lost this fast this first month. I do know that I was very bloated and swollen before surgery and lost a lot of water the first two weeks. The third week not much happened and then this week has seen another 4-5 lbs gone. I am at a lower weight than I have been in 10 years.!!! No diet or diet drug every got me past the 285 mark. I am now at 281 never to see that awful 285 again. I am the smallest that my hubby has ever known me at. He is so thrilled to see me get healthier and healthier. I have had some mood swings. I thought it was PMS, but I missed my monthly cycle. I think my estrogen is bouncing around. Sometimes my irritability is pretty bad and most days I am fine. Don't know what happen to my cycle, butits an alusive thing anyway with my PCOS. I am very happy and looking forward to next month report. I am happy to be a contact for anyone. Just email me privately with your questions. dmalony @ columbus.rr.com (no spaces) Laurie 9/20/00 319/281/
