? cause for pain

I had a TP (without ICT) in 2000.

I now have central, upper abdominal pain, which comes and goes - like

spasms. During an episode i sweat +++ and afterwards i feel nauseous

and somtimes vomit. My doctor thinks this is due to either :

gastroparesis; adhesions or intermittent partial obstruction. I am

awaiting a gastric emptying srudy. Does anyone recognise these

synptoms - and if so, what cause was identified?

Thanks.

Sue,

depending on the intensity of the pain and the length of its

occurence.....it sounds similar to when I had biliary colic. I am not

sure if that is even in the picture with you because of your TP...but

if your common bile duct or other biliary ducts are blocking

intermittently this may cause your pain. Lab test should show

abnormal liver enzyme levels if you are tested at the right time

after an episode of pain. Otherwise, the adhesions and

intermittent / partial bowel obstruction is also very much in the

picture at least in my experience with this . Gastroparesis, at

least how I feel it, is more of a dull achy, ate to0 much

thanksgiving dinner type of feeling.......but then, I may feel it

differently than others, and I have never been officially tested for it

so what I am feeling may not be really gastroparesis.

I hope you find the cause of this soon....it must be devastating to

go through your surgery to have this come up at you!
