Guest guest
I want to get a new nebulizer. I forget, after all discussions, which one was the best and most effective. I want it for Tobi. I recall there was one that took 15 min. or less. Now its takes us 35 minutes....I have 3 but only 2 work and they are OLD...at least 6 years old. What is life expectancy of a nebulizer? Thanks Rosemary in NY with 3 children (13, 11 and 7) with CF. Guest guest
Rosemary. We use the Pari LC Plus nebulizer. We just got a new one and our cf clinic said they normally last around 5 years. But if you are using it several times a day with three children I would say it probably would have a shorter life expectancy. I love your new quote. I think I will borrow it if you don't mind. Guest guest
Rosemary...ive heard that the neb cups are good for 6 months.I like the ones in the hospital but they told me i wasnt suppoose to be using vinegar like i was and to start microwaving the cups instead....of course they melted, lol. So DONT do that, lol. For pulmozyme they gave me the side stream, a gray ended tbing and cup that goes so fast it takes like 7-8 min for his treatment, and ya know what that means.....less griping i hear from my lil one, lol. I use pari lc(think lc) for albuterol and tobi...takes about 15 minutes. Good luck, Patty > I want to get a new nebulizer. Guest guest
I have one. I very seldom need to use it though. Mine was ordered for Asthma attacks. Did they give you albuterol or Duo-neb? Did you have a question about how to use it or something? Guest guest
thanks for the info i did notice stuff coming up after using it much easier to use than the inhaler Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: nebulizerTo: Breathe-Support Date: Monday, December 21, 2009, 11:40 AM Joyce, I have a nebulizer and use it for albuterol and sometimes lidocain. When I have bronchitis or feel any sort of inflamation in my lungs I use it for albuterol. You will find it to be a blessing. It cuts down on the inflamation so you can have a more controlled cough and bring up the stuff sticking around in your lungs. Hope you feel better quickly, 34 FLIPF dx 1/06>> just got a nebulizer> has anyone used a nebulizer> > it's for the bronchitis, not for the pf> > > > > > Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania > Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09> www.transplantfund. org>
Guest guest
I agree Joyce. The inhaler does nothing for me. I always have to turn to the nebulizer to help. > > > > just got a nebulizer > > has anyone used a nebulizer > >  > > it's for the bronchitis, not for the pf > >  > > > >  > > > >  > > Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06)  IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania > > Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 > > www.transplantfund. org > > >
Guest guest
thanks Sharon i noticed my hands shake for a little while too i'm glad i don't have to mix the stuff -- it comes premade in little vials Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Re: nebulizerTo: Breathe-Support Date: Monday, December 21, 2009, 1:44 PM Hi Joyce, I have used a nebulizer for years for my asthma. It is helpful. I use mine mainly in the morning because thats when i am most congested. I hold my breath for 10 seconds as Iam using it evey couple of minutes. They showed me that in the hospital to get the albuterol working faster. The only real side effect is that for awhile afterwards my hands shake alittle but thet stops. Its been my way of life for 30 years but my airways open and mucus comes out so thats a plus.I now have the premixed tubes. I started with the drops and cans of bronco saline but the premix is easier.Hope that helps. sharon astma pd 2008 From: H <truromntc (AT) yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: Re: nebulizerTo: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. comDate: Monday, December 21, 2009, 12:02 PM I have one. Guest guest
Pink Joyce, I have used a neubulizer for bronchitis for 7 years. I have had the crud this past week so I have been using it to get the crud out of my lungs. As the nurse told me yesterday on the phone, "It has to come out".
