Guest guest
Hi, I recently was reading an article on using ERCP vs MRCP for diagnosis of pancreatitis and duct issues. They were referring to a study that was done in which they grouped patients into three groups according to low, moderate and high probability of having a stone stuck in their bile duct before testing, then they gave all patients both the ERCP and MRCP to compare which test gave most accurate predictions. The Low category criteria were: you had no history of stone migration, you had normal liver blood tests and on ultrasound, you had a narrow common bile duct [<7mm]. The moderate probability criteria were: you had a history of stone migration and/or pancreatitis, you had elevated liver tests but they were less than twice normal, and an ultrasound showed a moderate dilation of a bile duct of between 8-10mm. High probability criteria were: you had pancreatitis or jaundice, you had liver blood tests that were more than twice normal, and an ultrasound showed a bile duct dilation greater than 10mm. I was just curious where each of you fit before you got a diagnosis of pancreatitis, or did this not apply to you? If you are interested in reading the article, it was on the Mayo Website, here is the address: http://www.mayo.edu/proceedings/2002/may/7705a2.pdf Adam
