Hi ,

A doctor who specializes in magnesium defieciency told me that you

can take 200 mg. of the Solgar at one time. I sometimes do that when

trying to cut off a bad headache. But on a daily basis, I just space

the four magnesium tablets throughout the day, starting with

breakfast and ending before 5:00 pm.

It's weird... when I take them after 5:00, I often end up with

insomina. BUT when I take two along with two ibuprofen at bedtime

(only if I have a bad headache) then I'm asleep within 30 minutes. A

couple times this hasn't worked and I'd toss and turn until finally

getting up to take a benedryl to drug me into sleeping (my alarm goes

off at 5:10 every morning, so I try to get to bed by 9:30 -- but

obviously that's not happening tonight!)

Just remember not to take them WITH antibiotics. Take the magnesium

two hours after any oral or IV antibiotics, inhaled shouldn't matter.

anyway, I got the Solgars Mg and it says to take 4 per day. Do you

take them all at once or spread them out? I remember you saying if

you took them at night they made you hyper. If anything may possibly

cause insomnia it does in me. So how should I take them? thanks a

lot for your help.

I can't take ibuprofen at all, it gives me terrible heartburn. I will try taking

2 after breakfast and 2 after lunch. I took 4 at once yesterday and went to bed

I kid you not at 3:30 pm, got up at 8:00 pm , ate dinner and went back to bed

about 9:30, and slept until 8:00 am. I don't know if it was the magnesium or if

I was just really tired. I slept great though.
