For me, I prefer the MRCP as to the ERCP for obvious reasons (post-

procedure pain). But the MRCP only showed small stones in my bile

duct. It could not visualize my pancreatic duct. Only through the

ERCP did the Dr. get a closer look at things and discovered that I

have very high pressure in the pancreatic duct. So I guess it

depends on what they are looking for as to what test would be

better. Have you ever had an ERCP ? I have had a total of 5 ERCP's

and about 4 MRCP's. Both tests showed different things.
