Hi Traci,

I would go and see your Hanger ortho again. Our ortho (starband) told us

regression is hard to predict. Still 9 weeks is quite a short time, so I wonder

if you were released too early. Although if his head were fully corrected then

it makes sense to take it off. My daughter was crawling & cruising by 8.5 mo,

but kids are so different. She's was on the early side for most things (and

definitely not a laid back personality). Tort can cause things to go a bit

slower. It is good to give him a lot of tummy time - to help with upper body

strength. If he doesn't like it, he'll have to use his muscles to move :-)

I also recommend taking picture of the head during treatment. Do you have

pictures to compare his head shape when he graduated and now? If you think he is

regressing I would start taking them and get him checked.

looked good that was the end of August. Now he looks like it is getting flat

again, I thought it was just me but the therapist (tort. which is much better

but she checks on him everyother week, which raises another questions.) anyway,

she said it looked flat to her too and she thought they released him too early.

Has this happened to anyone else?

He is sitting up well but can't get himself up in the sitting position. is this

from the Tort., helmet or just because he is so laid back? Anyone else have

delays?

Hi Traci, My son is in a Hanger band and has been in it for 2 months and should have 2-3 more months of growth room left. Since you only wore it for 9 weeks and ended treatment 1 month ago, you should still have room for growth in the same band possibly. I would definitely call them and restart treatment. My orthotist told me that if my son outgrew his band, he would provide another one for free. Maybe they would do the same for you if he has outgrown it.

My son is 10 months today. He is in a STAR band, two months of it now. He only

had mild left sided plagio and that is much better. Has your son been checked

for any hypotonia? My son has hypotonia, and did not sit up unsupported until

about a month ago. He is not crawling, pulling himself up to sitting yet

either. However, he is finally rolling and started that around 7-8 months old.

He should be working with the physical therapist on all of those issues. I have

learned to be patient and not be frustrated at a lack of progress that I think

he should have but praise him for all the little things I see him doing... I

hope it gets easier. I think if he is not doing as well at these other things,

the plagio will come back... He may need to be put in it until some of these

improve. As long as it doesn;t cause any other issues by continuing to wear it.

I took tanner to Hanger specialist, he adjusted the helmet and told us to put it

on him at bedtime only for a few weeks to see how it goes. I feel ok with that,

that is the only time he is on his back. I'm trying not to be so anxious about

him not rolling, before I know it he will be getting away from me. I just love

that little fella so much.

thanks everyone.
