Guest guest
Hi Suzie, This is new to me, the allergic reaction. I've had many CT scans, which is probably the reason why my body has gone against the contrast. 3 CT scans ago it first started with the feeling of a fat lip, and a white welt appeared above my lip. It kind of burned, and basically felt like someone had punched me in the mouth. It returned to normal within 3 hours of having the scan. Second scan 4 weeks later, gave me fat lip with welt feeling, and I broke out in itchy spots all over my face. I should have shut up about the " mild " side affects I sometimes get to benedryl, because they told me they could give that to me to reduce the effect, and i'd prefer to put up with a bit of restlessness in my arm compared to my itchy face...but they said no when I mentioned the effects of benedryl. It took about 3 hours again for everything to go back to normal. If it got worse I was to tell my oncologist or get myself wheeled back to the radiology department for further treatment. So for this scan today, I had to prep by taking a prednisone type medicine and the side effects given by people were horrible. Just scared me..staying awake, migraines, blurry vision, restlessness, hard of breathing, pain, nervousness, unable to focus, irritability, and other things that I can't remember right now. I also had to take 64mg in 12 hours whereas some of these people took that only half that much over 6 days. So it really worried me. I did get a headache, sweating, nervousness in my head and wasn't able to focus on anything for a good length of time. I also got some restlessness, but I was able to sleep with it. But it did the trick, and at least I don't have to take it again for another 3-6 months. Just hope the tumours show up in my CT scan that i've been complaining to the doctor about. Two will definitely be visible, so I hope they are of a size to be able to remove asap.
