Guest guest
Hello everyone. My name is Susie and a wonderful woman gave me the link for this group which she says she thinks will be of help to me. I was telling her about my symptoms and how the medical world is not trying their best to help me and i was wondering if any of you could give me your opinion of what you think. Over the past few years i have had these horrible pain attacks which start in my stomach. They only used to last a short time until last year around thanksgiving. I started having these double over stabbing pain attacks in my stomach and i couldnt eat anything, not even babyfood. They put me in the hospital and after repeating an ultrasound for the third time they told me i had sludge in my gallbladder and i had it removed 3 days later. Right afterward, i started having these horrible pain attacks 2 or 3 times a week. they would blow me away for the rest of the day. They were way worse when i was taking morphine too. When i stopped taking the morphine i have only been having them once a week but the pain is so horrible. it doubles me over and i cant move. i have been to the er several times for the pain and they keep telling me i have acid reflux yet the medications that they have given me for acid reflux dont seem to help at all. Also the attacks are starting to get worse. Can someone give me some insight to the horrible pain???? Thank you for listening, i know this was really long and im sorry for that. im just trying to find some answers. Thank you again, Susie - south jersey

Guest guest
Thank you Heidi. I have had every test over two times. i have had cat scans, xrays, colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultra sounds many time, hyda scans three times, blood work everytime i go to the er. I was told i had acid reflux and thats it. the see nothing else wrong. they gave me valium after my gallbladder surgery because they said it was just my nerves. There is one er doctor that is very nice and does everything he can to make sure im comfortable but the other one whom i always seem to get is horrible. He tells me to go home, that this is the same pain i always have and quit complaining. im just so frustrated. My poor father had all the same things that i have and suffered horribly his whole life. i dont want to be like that. thank you again, susie - south jersey
Guest guest
Welcome Susie, Doubling over stabbing pain sounds like pancreatitis pain in a nutshell! This pain can mimic other complications, so I would suggest a thorough check up with a gastroenterologist first. I wouldn't recommend taking your complaints to a PCP, even if he's your regular family doctor. It takes a specialist to diagnose this disease, and even some of them have trouble doing so. Other than the ultrasounds, what other tests or procedures have been done on you to determine what's wrong? You might go to: www.top5plus5.com/ and read up there on what all the symptoms are, what tests can be done to determine whether it's chronic pancreatitis, and what kind of treatments are available. If you can't find the answers there, you can always ask your questions here, and most of us can share our own experiences with you and give you suggestions about what to do next, where to go, and what to ask for and expect. Don't let anyone tell you that this is all in your head, or that you've got IBS, unless you've had every possible test come back negative two or more times. Even then, don't believe them if they say " it's all in your head " ! It's your body and no one knows it better than you do, but sometimes you really have to fight the system to get anyone to listen. Except for here............there's always someone listening, and ready to jump in with answers or suggestions whenever we feel it can help. Let us know how we can help you.
