I went to Elaine's site to check it out but the site was down. If fennel is found to be legal add a bit to the stuffing for its licorice flavor. It's interesting that without a recipe, I used to add many of the other ingredients to a stuffing based on almond flour. But I always ate half of it before stuffing anything with it b/c it is so good. A tip, the Kosher Cornish hens are tastiest. They come frozen Carol F. Guest guest
Thanks, Carol. I checked Elaine's web site before it went down. Neither fennel nor anise were listed. If someone knows whether fennel is legal or not, it would help me. My new doctor wants me to eat small amounts for medicinal purposes. My gut feeling (no pun intended) is that it's not legal. Not sure why. BTW: That intimidating recipe is actually for THREE things, the Cornish hen, some roasted veggies and the sauce. No need to make all three! Carol F. Guest guest
, Both fennel and anise are SCD legal AS SPICES. That is, a small amount included in an entire recipe. If you check my pepperoni recipe, you'll see there's a very tiny amount of each in it -- but then it's diluted by over two pounds of meat! Why does your doctor want you to use these herbs? What are they supposed to accomplish? -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Thank you, Marilyn-- I have a bacterial infection from food poisoning that SCD can't override. My new doctor (previous one retired) wants me to eat small amounts of fennel/anise, bok choy, and parsley to help heal my gut. They are all SCD legal, but if they weren't, I wouldn't even consider trying them. However, I am hesitant about the fennel. --- " Wizop Marilyn L.
