Guest guest
Hi Dr.R, My curiosity peaks in regards to the weight lost verses the amount of intestines bypassed. I don't know if this is anything to be included on your questionaire or not. It appears that those that had more than 6 feet bypassed are losing a lot more weight, but of course they are on the higher end of the weight limits too. I would like to see the results of those comparisons. I would also like to know how often elevated liver enzymes come into play. Also, what causes it????? Is is something to be concerned about????? I would like to know just which recommended supplements, meds etc are actually being used by your post-ops. For example....which ones are still on Previcid/Prilosec, Citrucel, protein supplements, fish oil, etc...... Are these post-ops experiencing hair loss, indigestion/reflux or fatigue. Which ones are on a regular exercise program and how does this compare to their weight loss? I know that I can stand some improvement in a few areas but I feel good and I don't have any complaints. I'm almost 5 months post-op and I've had my bloodwork done three times so far and everything is fine with the exception of my liver enzymes being a little elevated. My PCP said he will check them again at 6 months post-op. He didn't seem too concerned. Have I told you lately that I thank God everyday for you???? You are the reason my life has improved so much. I am forever greatful. Love, Genz " Rutledge, M.D., F.A.C.S. Guest guest
Dr. R, Please feel free to sign my up on the 6-month volunteer list for an EGD or upper GI series, or anything else for that matter. I'm in southwest Missouri and would have to have the diagnostics done here. Also, are you the moderator of the Post-Op Group? Egroups notified me this weekend that my request for membership in that group was denied and I just wondered why? Thanks, Tarri in Missouri MGB 09-29-00 329/294 6 Month Follow Up > OK We are getting ready to send out our 6 month request for follow up > information. > > Any suggestions? > > We are going to ask about reflux and whether you have had an endoscopy and > or esophagitis. > > Recently two of our patients about 1 year after surgery have had endoscopy > for some indigestion and both were found to have a completely normal > esophagus. > > We are thinking of asking for some volunteers to go and get their esophagus > looked at (Upper GI endoscopy) just for the heck of it to check their > esophagus for the people that are wound up over the Mini-Gastric Bypass > being like the Old Mason Loop type surgery. > > We are also going to be asking about your weights, anemia and hernias from > the ports. > > If you are particularly interested in a topic that you would like to know > about please let me know. > > PS I am planning on coming to the Support Group meeting on Sat.
