Guest guest
Hi, I had an ERCP last week. They do put air into the system and warn that some sensations/pain will result from that. For me these lasted only for a few hours. The actual post-ERCP pain as such can vary from the definite pain/spasms I had, at their strongest the following day, right through to a full attack of acute pancreatitis which would require hospitalisation. In 1988 I had an ERCP. The pain was much more severe than last week's but I still managed at home. On that occasion I didn't know what was wrong; nobody had warned me what to expect or how to respond if I had bad pain. I didn't know I had pancreatitis at all. It's not worth taking any chances but I do think it's quite possible to have a relatively mild reaction which will simply fade after a few days. That might reassure you but I wouldn't hesitate to seek advice if you're at all worried. Hope all goes well. Fliss (UK)
