Guest guest
It was about fifty years ago when our mother took my late sister and me to Boston Children's Hospital for our maladies.my sister saw Dr. Barenberg for her lungs, and I saw Dr. Flake for my sinuses. No video games and not even a lollypop. My polyps were a mess, and though they were removed several times by the time I was in my early teens, I had my first Caldwell Luc surgery at age eighteen just before I went off to college. At nineteen, I had my second. If you don't know what a Caldwell Luc is, you don't want to hear about it! It was Dr. Flake (Carlyle Flake, M.D.) who led me to the dean of CF doctors at the time, Harry Shwachman, M.D. Harry tested me and then a month later he tested my sister and made the diagnosis of CF. Children's Hospital became a factory known as the Children's Medical Center, then changed its name back to Children's Hospital. I marveled at the many physical changes the hospital went through during the years I went there, and it is probably one of the best children's hospitals in the world. The Yale CF adult clinic takes an hour less driving for me now than my driving to Boston, but the hour on I 95 sends my blood pressure up at least twenty points. Hal Re: Sinus Surgery Question > > His ENT is Dr. at Children's in Boston who told me that he may > require surgery again as polyps recur. My son saw Dr. on a consult last year. My son loves Children's He likes to play the free video game whenever he was there. He had the best person put in his PICC line when he was hospitalized for lyme meningitis two summers ago. I'll never forget her. She was so patient and gentle when he was scared to death. jan ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice.
