Guest guest
Becky, It is too soon to give G any raw fruits even if they are pealed and seeded...raw veggies for that matter, too. You need to stick with the stage one and two type stuff. When I was reading Dr. Kreigsman's transcript from that conference, he talked about how kids on the spectrum have stomach pain. That's why they are constantly pressing on their abdomen(usually lower). I think that G is having intestinal pain...which would lead me to believe that you need to back up...even if his stools are normal again. I'm not saying do intro again. I'm just saying to give him the easier to digest foods...everything pealed, seeded, and well cooked. Would you consider the rash to be kind of goose fleshy? iel has always had this tiny patch of what Dr. O'Hara calls goose flesh on his right upper arm...only in the back though. She told me that it was an indication that he either did or still does have some yeast issues. It is mild, and has never spread, so she thinks it is from old yeast problems. I did noticed that the bumps hve been more pronounced the past week or so, but it hasn't spread. She's having me watch it because we are doing Valtrex. It's hard to say if it is viral or yeast related. She did tell me to rub some sort of EFA right on it...fish oil, coconut oil, ect. Anyone else experienced this? 3rd question- other than behavior is getting to the normal pooh stage a good indicator that you have gone thru your die- off phase? We finally have formed pooh again. I have introduced peeled grapes, pinnapple and peanut butter brownies all within the last 7-10 days (really thinking I would see them in his pooh) but nothing came back out in his pooh, his pooh turned normal today and behavior has been typical. Guest guest
I would definitely have a good look in his belly button to make sure there is no infx. Also, the rash will go away on it's own if you're sure no foods or soaps or smells are bothering him. PB can be a real trigger for these kids and rashes. K was on SCD for about 1+1/2 yrs. before we saw how she was reacting to it. I think she's doing much better now. Very calm with no rashes. The rashes can be due to die-off as well. My dd had the same prickly type rash on her back & front for many months before she cleared up. Hang in there! Guest guest
Becky, I'm wondering if this might be an issue of some toxins (or possibly oxalate crystals?) working their way out of his body via the skin? The skin is one of the body's detoxification mechanisms. I'm just wondering.... because some of the kids who've started the Vitamin K protocol get rashes of varying types, and this is one of the logical explanations because Vitamin K (also A & D) and probiotics are helping to dissolve calcium oxalate crystals in the body. It's possible that just SCD and probiotics could begin doing that.... if he had these crystals stashed in his body, and I'm learning that it's pretty common with kids on the spectrum. Have you read up on that issue? Or area you already reading the Vitamin K list? I apologize if you are already over there.... it's hard to keep everyone straight on my many lists. My daughter (not an autism kid) got a rash after starting the K protocol..... and her navel is one of the involved areas. We are assuming that toxins are working their way out.... she's had this rash for about three months (docs are calling it psoriasis but they have no clue why she has it) and it's ssslllllooooowwwwly fading now. Feel free to e-mail me off list if you want, since this goes a little bit off topic here. Patti durovchic@... 3 unrelated questions Wanted to know if anyone has had rash issues.
