: I can somewhat answer the question you have on belching,

as I have been " unofficially " diagnosed with SOD after having an

ERCP w/manometry this past August. It was performed by Dr. Glen

Lehman in Indianapolis, Indiana. I don't where you live relative to

Indianapolis (I live in RI and flew there to see him because of his

vast knowledge of pancreatic problems and SOD.) If you can ever go

to see him I would highly recommend him as I'm sure others here will

attest.

But, to address your question about belching..here goes: ever since

having that ERCP done (with the result being a sphincterotomy

performed on both my pancreatic duct and common bile duct); I have

the most trouble when there is some sort of (a) intestinal " action "

going on, (B) when there is any kind of gas going on...either

belching or the " other " as I'm sure you know what I mean. For some

odd reason, any of the above stirs up either my panc or gets the SO

spasming. I've actually had MANY times when I feel pain coming on

and then nausea (which also happens lately if any of the above

occurs) and THEN all of a sudden I either burp huge burps and or

the " other " and/or have to poo.

Once any of those is relieved, i.e., belching, far*ing (LOL) OR

going poo....the symptoms are relieved and I go back about my life.

None of the docs I've asked about this weird connection seem to have

any answers for me. Although I've never asked Dr. Lehman about it

but now that you've reminded me I think I will.

I've just sort of come out of one of the worst attacks that I have

ever experienced. It lasted for 8 days straight....but the problem

was that I let myself get severely constipated and I had never known

that severe constipation can cause severe nausea. It's obviously

due to the pain meds...but I hadn't known before that that

constipation is to be avoided at all costs with me because of the

overwhelming nausea that it causes.

At any rate, this is a long answer to one of your questions...but

yes, with me anyway, belching/far*ing are both big issues with me

and ALWAYS cause me to start either getting nauseated or I start

having pain or both. I'm now taking Gas-Ex twice a day and it seems

to be helping that issue anyway. Well, hope this helps a

bit...sorry for my rather wordy answer. For some reason, I sort of

type as I think and the result is probably horribly long reading for

others trying to make sense of my posts!!

Take care
