How long do I have to be in Durham?

Hello all,

Can anybody advise me on how long I need to stay? I'm coming from MA and

would like to minimize the length of days there. If I have surgery on a Wed,

how much before and after is required? Can I have my PCP take out the

staples when I get home?

Can you pre-pay for a discount to Dr R and DRH with a credit Card?

I am from Georgia and I didn't exactly adhere to the guidelines

(don't listen Dr. R.) I went to clinic on Tuesday, surgery on

Wednesday, home from the hospital on Thursday, home on Sunday with no

problems, back at work (at home) on Monday.

Although the posts often tell of tremendous success stories of quick

returns to work etc..., one of my contacts seriously cautioned me

about not following Dr. R's guidelines about leaving Durham too

quickly. She and another lady had some complications (as is the risk

with any surgery, not just this one). The one who went back early

really had a hard time. Just know there are worse things than a week

in Durham. If life is so busy that you don't want to give your body

a rest after MAJOR surgery, then you need to take the time to stop

and smell the roses (and recover properly).

I personally look forward to the week in Durham. I've got my laptop

and I plan on working from the hotel.
