Guest guest
Can you tell us what you've been eating and drinking these last three days that everything has been legal? Meleah Crohn's with liver and kidney issues I don't have an official Crohn's diagnosis yet (I see the GI surgeon on Friday) but so far my docs agree I probably have it. I also have elevated liver enzymes (normally only seen in alcoholics, but I don't drink) and reduced kidney function. I've been working onto the SCD since January 1st with the last 3 days being all " legal " . I've been feeling worse, which is expected (extremely tired, weak and dizzy) but my liver and kidney areas feel awful--swollen and " sick " feeling. The doc called tonight to say my liver and kidney numbers are worse. He doesn't know what to make of it, so he's waiting to see what the GI surgeon says. Does anyone have any experience with this? It's very unsettling to be working so hard and having vital organs seeming to get worse, not better. Thanks. Marti
Guest guest
Die-off toxins probably have to be processed by the liver.... or kidneys.... or both. Seems like you don't have any extra capacity to spare at the moment. Did you start the diet with a slow transition? Or go " cold turkey " with the intro diet? If so, in your case, maybe it would have been better to ease into SCD very gradually. I wish I had something more informative to offer you. Have they ruled out any iron-loading disorder that could be affecting your liver? Do you have Celtic ancestry, by any chance? Guest guest
I transitioned slowly into the diet because I was still trying to learn about it (still waiting for my book in the mail). The last three days I only had the chicken broth, hamburg patties, DCCC and eggs(tried these two but decided to eliminate them after 2 days),chicken (from making the broth) very ripe bananas, watered down black cherry juice (I didn't have grape and it's supposed to reduce inflamation) and peppermint/ginger tea. That's about it until yesterday when I added stewed prunes, magnesium citrate and almond muffins in hopes of addressing the constipation (so far, no luck). I did just read the label on the supplement I was using for the consitipation and it contains aloe leaf, which I think is illegal. Maybe I just need to give it more time. It's just so disconcerting with an ailing liver and kidney. Can you explain Celtic descent? I'm 1/2 English and then pretty much a mutt after that--Irish, German, Dutch, I think. Guest guest
What about adding another carb in there like cooked carrots or cooked acorn or butternut squash? That might help get the bowels moving. Guest guest
Our daughter has Crohns/colitis and had high liver enzymes when treated with drugs. Ever since being on SCD her liver enzymes have been normal.
