Hi everybody,

Well, I survived another trip to the hospital. All your prayers must have been

listened to, because the whole procedure was quick and apparently

performed without any problems. I must say that the drugs that they gave me

worked their charm. I vaguely remember being wheeled down to the

operating room on a bed, and then the next thing I remember was the dental

surgeon standing over me, asking me who I was. The only bad thing that

happened was my unusual reactions in the recovery room. I started to feel as

though I wanted to get out of my skin, I was thrashing my legs and arms about

wildly and without control. It was really weird, and had all the nurses and

doctors clustering around me. I couldn't stop it and it was driving me mad!!

They tried Benadryl, and that didn't work, the legs and arms kept thrashing

around. I remember hearing them make phone calls to someone else,

(probably the hospitalist), asking what else they could do. Apparently, in the

end they gave me a generous dose of Fentanyl, and then the next thing I

remember was waking in the same day surgery cubicle where we started

from.

They did not keep me overnight, and never admitted me into the hospital. I

was lucid enough by 5:00 pm for Bob to take me home, and still so heavily

medicated that I don't remember much, except that he put me in bed, and at

some time, I did eat some soup and pudding.

I went to the dentist the next day for my first adjustment, and will be

returning

Monday for another one, as there is still one area that's causing a lot of pain.

The dental surgeon prescribed me Mepergan Fortis 50/25, one or two taken

every 4 hours for the pain, and amoxicillan for an antibiotic. This pain med

really works well, I've never had it before, but there's been a minimum of pain,

and some really hazy memory, so I think it's some strong stuff.

Eating is still a challenge and I don't think I'll be able to handle anything

too

chewy or tough until all the healing is done. And I am disappointed to find

that I can't taste things half as well as I used to. That's going to take some

time

for me to adjust to, especially when I start cooking my original family-loved

recipes again......all of those are done with me tasting and adding spices as

needed. I've never measured anything before, always gone by " taste " , so I'll

have to figure out what works best all over again.

Thanks again for your kind words and support. I'm getting off now to try some

dinner, mashed potatos, corn and peas, pudding, a banana nut muffin, and

soup. That should keep me going.

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi
