Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Chrissy and everyone else interested in the enzymes question, Here is the composition of a Creon 10000 in Ph. Eur. Units per capsule : Lipase : 10000 Amylase : 8000 Protease : 600 It says that " other enzymes are also present in small quantities. " Here is the composition of a Creon 40000 : Lipase : 40000 Amylase : 25000 Protease : 1600 Again, other enzymes are present in small quantities. I thought a different measuring system may be used in the US but the name Creon 10000 would seem to indicate it's the same thing. Chrissy, I'd be interested to know how the analysis of your Creon 10000 is given in the little leaflet which is stuck on the tub. Generally, pancreatologists seem to be tending to high doses at the moment. On the other hand, the patient can find what works for him or her. I haven't heard anyone be prescribed just one Creon 10000, however. I was initially prescribed a minimum of 2 x 10000 per meal by my gstro, with " permission " to go higher if necessary. The pancreatologist then advised about 3 x Creon 40000 per (big) meal. Good luck to all on this question. Fliss (UK)
