Hey everyone... I'm new to this group, my son just got his Hanger band

yesterday. We are trying to decorate his helmet so it isn't so borning and

we're on a pretty tight budget right now so we decided to just paint it and put

some stickers on it. Since yesterday was his first day with the helmet he

didn't have to sleep in it so we primed and painted it last night and today my

husband is going to paint the detailed parts and i'll put the stickers on later.

My question is what do you use to seal everything on there? There's already a

small chipped spot in the paint because little man fell over this morning while

wearing the helmet so I want to put some sort of seal over it to try to prevent

the paint from chipping off so much... what did you all use?

I used modge podge and it worked pretty well except it hadn't dried all the way and he scratched it Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: "Nikki Hefner" <nahefner0721@...>Sender: Plagiocephaly Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2010 14:44:18 -0000<Plagiocephaly >Reply Plagiocephaly Subject: decorating helmet... I used modge podge over the stickers, and a clear varnish over the whole thing. I also touched up paint and varnished about every week and a half. You'll probably get chips with the paint, but we only got them on the edges. They were easy to touch up.Plagiocephaly From: PRIZM61@...Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2010 05:27:50 +0000Subject: Re: decorating helmet...

We use modge podge with good results. If it's a design I want to keep for awhile

I usually do 2-3 coats and reapply as the modge podge peals/wears off. Our

current design is almost 3 weeks old now. For a 1 week design, I usually did

just one slightly thicker coat of modge podge. Also if you used stickers that

are a bit thicker and not as flexible, several coats of modge podge well help to

" glue " the edges down.

you can look and see if you can find a local airbrush artist to paint it for you. I found one and when he found out what it was for he didn't charge me...... I get allot of compliments on it and with his permission I give out his number at least once a week. It is super shiny as he used a really high gloss on it and there are no chips or touch ups needed. Camille has been wearing hers for 2 months.... just a thought
