Guest guest
Doesn't SCD plus vit K2 replace the LOD? - He is also on the LOD(low oxalate diet) therefore he can not have nut yogurt. Guest guest
The vitamin K protocol is intended to deal with calcium oxalate crystals. It is the opinion of Tamaro, who wrote the research paper on vitamin K that we often refer to, that restricting dietary oxalates simply triggers the body to produce it's own oxalates (in the liver), in an effort to bind up unmanaged calcium. She feels strongly that calcium management is the key.... and that restricting oxalate foods in the diet is not going to ultimately deal with the underlying problem of deficient levels of vitamins A, D and K (and to some extent, E).... which are essential for putting calcium where it belongs in bones and teeth. With that said, we try to stick to focusing on SCD here.... although we've heard about a fair number of kids who have not done well on SCD while also combining it with LOD, and we're very concerned about those kids.... who really need the nutrients in those foods. For example, ironically enough, the leafy greens which are high in oxalate are also good sources of vitamin K. Guest guest
Thank you, but I know about this information on the web site. I failed to say that my son has Autism and can not have the goat yogurt. I made it a few years ago and started with 1/8 of a teaspoon and he was up all night long every time he had it. He can not have any casein. Casein also interferes with the methyl B-12 shots he receives.
