Hi Patti,

I have finally found a starter culture and need your approval.

It is freeze dried and only contains two of the strains that are in the Progurt

starter:

lactobacillus Bulgaricus

Streptococcus thermophilus

If this is not suitable because it lacks the Lactobacillus casei, I would have

to order from Lucy's kitchen and have it shipped to South Africa.

Can you let me know which route I should go?

Thanks

Tina

reintroducing carrots

We have recently reintroduced carrots. Before it was pretty clear that

he was not digesting them because they came out pretty chunky in his

stool. This time with well cooked carrots (not pureed - not baby

carrots) I'm seeing VERY tiny flecks of orange in his stool. The stool

itself is well formed with little to no odor. I seriously doubt that I

would even notice it if I wasn't observing his stool so closely. Is it

o.k. to keep carrots in his diet or are these flecks still an

indication that he's not digesting?

But I thought I'd start getting everthing organised.I'm so glad you approve.

Tina,

SUCCESS!! This starter will be fine! L.casei is allowed in starter, but not

required.

One thing that concerns me a little.... and I just recently realised this was

true of the GI Pro Health starter as well.... is that it does not contain

l.acidophilus. That's okay, it will still make a legal yogurt.... but the

yogurt simply will not contain any acidophilus.

So, for those who use either of these starters, it is crucial that you

supplement acidophilus....

OR.... you could open a capsule of acidophilus and mix it in along with the

starter culture, so that your final product will be brimming with good yogurt

fairies. :)

I'm so pleased that you found something that will work!
