Guest guest
Hi all, Okay, I've just spent the whole night up with Alli, who has decided not to tolerate her overnight feeding. This is a sure sign that something is brewing with her. It is also, coincidentally, her off time with TOBI. She's not due to start for another week or two. Since I've been reading some interesting stuff about magnesium, tea tree oil inhalations, selenium and something called MSM, I've been wondering about dosages, and how often these treatments are given (in the case of inhaled tea tree oil). My daughter just turned 4 and at her last GI visit, she was 39.5 lbs. So here are my questions: 1. If we supplement magnesium and selenium, how do we figure out the right amount to give them (I have twins with CF, but Mick is doing fine now - as he should be since he IS on TOBI now). 2. Can I give tea tree oil to a 4-year-old, and if so, how much and how often, and is it mixed with anything, or just given straight through a neb? 3. What is MSM, what dosage would be appropriate, and how is it delivered? Alli is currently taking GSH as a supplement, which we've been mixing in with her enzymes (hope that's okay). I haven't seen much difference, although she hasn't had a cold all winter. Other than retching during her overnight feed, and being less active yesterday than her normal 90 mph speed, she has no other symptoms of infection. Just a small amount of clear, runny mucous from her nose which is common for her when she has reflux. I gave her some water and children's tylenol because I was concerned about her dehydrating, and she immediately threw that up. sigh... So, I'll just have to give her more water at a slower pace and pray she holds it down. Anyone with any other ideas? She has an appointment on Feb. 3rd with the pulm. so unless she gets worse, I think I'll wait for that to get a culture. Thanks for hanging in there, I know I have a lot of questions for you all.
