Hi There

I have made my first SCD goat's yogurt exactly as in the book 24hrs fermenting

followed

by 8 hours cooling GI pro etc.

I gave my son his first 1/8 spoon of Yogurt my first question is when can he

have the

yogurt again.Next day?

My second question is do you advise dripping for kids that have been on GCFD.The

dripping seems to be for cows milk and what separated is the caesin and the(

Water of

hydrolysis is left over and contains galactose, proteins like lactoalbumin and

some lactic

acid) Would the Goat's yogurt contain the same things?Would it need to be poured

down

the drain as well.

We got some extra yogourmet makers for extended family who have GI issues but

not

ASD.Would it be necessary for them to use a starter like yogourmet starter or

would the

same benefits be got from greek yogurt or yogurts caontaing the allowed strains.

Finally would you know if Pomegranate organic Juice from Biona (not from

concentrate no

added sugar just pure juice(it says) )is legal or not

Regards

Anne

Anne,

We usually recommend just 1/8 teaspoon per day to start..... do that for at

least a few days before increasing the amount. You'll just have to see how he

does. We want to be sure he tolerates the small amount. It can be powerful

stuff!

Yes, goat yogurt contains some of those same elements that cow yogurt does.

Dripping goat yogurt can be beneficial for those who have difficulty tolerating

it at first. Yes, you would throw away the water that drips out. Dripping also

makes the yogurt less tart... so more tasty.

I imagine your other relatives could use any yogurt starter they'd like to try,

if they're not on SCD. Yogourmet starter will work well, but many other yogurts

could be used as starter as well, to make a successful regular yogurt.

However, if they have " GI issues " , and are therefore wanting to start SCD, they

would need to use a starter that contains the allowed strains....

l.acidophilus, s.thermophilus, l.bulgaricus.... and if desired, l.casei..... to

gain the best result from the diet. Also, they'd need to be sure to do the full

24 hr fermentation.

I can't answer the question about the Pomegranite juice. That brand is not

familiar to me. You would have to get a hand-written letter from the company,

stating that they never add ANYthing except what's labeled..... then you could

safely use it for your own family.
